Biography |
The Chickz, formerly The Pixie Chicks, are three talented teenage girls who have been performing for audiences of all ages throughout PA, NY & NJ since 1999.
Original member Erin has been with the group since its inception when she was 9 years old. Kelsey & Mercedes joined the group in the spring of 2005.
Venues include fairs, music festivals, private & corporate parties, car shows & mall events, to name a few, as well as the numerous charity events for which they volunteer their time & talent each year. They have performed at Disney World, Hershey Star Pavilion, Knoebels Amusement Park, The Apollo Theater, The Children's Museum of Manhattan in NYC, and have appeared on NBC's Today Show and ABC's Good Morning America. The Chickz were invited to Punxsutawney, PA by KDKA TV of Pittsburgh, which did a feature news story on them as a result of their original song saluting "Punxsutawney Phil", the famous groundhog. They have opened for such performers as Aaron Carter, Bill Haley's Comets, Earl Lewis and The Shirley Austin Reeves of The Shirelles.
In addition to TV & radio appearances, The Chickz have also received radio airplay with two of their original songs, "Just Like Marcia Brady" & "Hey, Phil" (The Punxsutawney Phil Song), and they have recorded 3 CD's.
The Chickz repertoire spans from the 50's to current, as does their costuming. Their "Fabulous Fifties" set features the girls in pink Poodle Skirts & saddle shoes singing sock hop favorites reminiscent of the days of malt shops and hotrods.
Hot pink metallic dresses and white go-go boots teamed with professionally choreographed medleys with trademark harmonies render their Motown set a memorable step back in time.
For those who crave the driving beats and high energy vocals of 80's groups such as the Go-Go's, The Bangles, or Cyndi Lauper, The Chickz "Totally 80's" show brings the audience to its feet to join in the dancing.
All shows feature audience participation for young and old alike, with skits and prizes for fans. Though young in years, The Chickz are veteran performers whose stage presence rivals that of many of their adult counterparts and is just one of the many amazing aspects of their show. From the moment they take the stage, it is obvious that not only do they love what they do, but also that they are true professionals with a "First Class" Family Oriented Act. |
